On the morning of June 2, the 2026 "the Belt and Road" Overseas Chinese Cooperation and Development Conference, jointly hosted by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, the People's Government of Sichuan Province, and the People's Government of Chongqing, opened in Chengdu. Wang Linggui, Secretary of the Party Group and Chairman of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Wang Xiaohui, Secretary of the Sichuan Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Sichuan Provincial People's Congress, Shi Xiaolin, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Sichuan, Tian Xiangli, Secretary of the Party Group and Chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and other guests attended the opening ceremony. Nearly 700 guests from 120 countries and regions, both at home and abroad, gathered in Chengdu to discuss Silk Road cooperation and seek new opportunities for development.

On behalf of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Wang Linggui extended warm congratulations to the conference organizers. The vast number of overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese are spread across more than 200 countries and regions worldwide. They are not only the inheritors of the ancient Silk Road spirit, but also the witnesses, participants, contributors, and beneficiaries of the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. He proposed that the vast number of overseas Chinese should focus on the 14th Five-Year Plan, serve as a "bridge and bond", and promote high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative to achieve new development; closely adhere to high-level opening-up, act as a "trailblazer", and promote high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative to expand new spaces; deepen cultural integration, serve as a "civil messenger", and promote high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative to showcase new visions. He stated that the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese will continue to play the role of a bridge and bond, act as a "close friend, doer, and main force", and continuously inject momentum and contributions from the overseas Chinese community to promote high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, deepen and solidify its implementation, and promote high-quality development and high-level opening-up in the Sichuan-Chongqing region.
